Weekly Sports Camps 2023

Join us this summer for seven weeks of active and engaging multi-sport camps! Our staff will introduce the fundamentals and game-specific skills used in traditional indoor and outdoor sports to help campers excel and have fun!

Each weekly camp will encompass a variety of focused sports play with instruction that promotes physical fitness, nutrition awareness, self-confidence, self-discipline, teaming & leadership.

Campers will have the added benefit of participating in free play,
STEM activities with real world applications
to sports and self-select games/activities that interest them.

Meet the people behind our 2023 summer camps

Lori Corrigan headshot

LORI CORRIGAN

Summer Camp Coordinator

Lori joined the Hoover Met Complex staff in September 2018 as a part-time Guest Services team member and Box Office shift lead. She has enjoyed working at sporting/non-sporting events at the complex over the years. In 2022, she became the Summer Camp Coordinator for the complex.

Lori has an extensive background in education and spent most of her 25-year career as an Enrichment Specialist in the Hoover City Schools. Additionally, she has spent more than 10 years teaching students from underserved communities in specialized summer enrichment programs at the Children’s Fresh Air Farm in Hoover and through Summer Advantage at Oliver Elementary School in Birmingham, Alabama.

Lori earned her Bachelor of Science from The College of St. Rose, in Albany NY, double majoring in Elementary Education/English. She earned a Master of Arts in Special Education/Gifted Education from the University of Alabama and earned an Education Specialist degree in Educational Technology, from Lesley University, in Boston, MA.

Lori lives in Hoover and has four children. She enjoys spending time at the beach, attending Alabama football games, swimming, and playing golf.

MASON BERG

Summer Camp Counselor

Mason is returning for his third summer as a camp counselor at the Hoover Met Complex. He is an upcoming senior at the University of Alabama and is majoring in Accounting. In his free time, Mason enjoys playing sports and spending time with friends and family. He has been an avid soccer player since he was three years old! In college, Mason has taken part in several intramural sports including kickball, dodgeball, flag football, basketball, and soccer. He looks forward to another fun-filled summer with HMC Campers!

NICK BERG

Summer Camp Counselor

Nick is returning to the Hoover Met Complex for his sixth year as a camp counselor. He is an upcoming sophomore at Auburn University, working toward a degree in Finance and Marketing. Nick would like to work for the FBI in the future. He has played soccer competitively for the past sixteen years and continues to enjoy soccer in college. He is part of the Men’s Club soccer team, intramural soccer, and football teams. Nick is looking forward to working with our campers once again this summer!

BAYLOR BLACK

Summer Camp Counselor

Baylor is returning to the Hoover Met Complex for a second year as a camp counselor. He will be an upcoming junior at the University of Auburn, majoring in Supply Chain Management. His hobbies include golf, basketball, fishing, football, and camping. Growing up, Baylor spent most of his time playing Football, Golf, Soccer, and Wrestling. With his experience, Baylor offers much knowledge on sports and fitness to the staff and campers. Baylor is excited to work with the camp again and make it an amazing summer!

GABRIELLE CHANDLER

Summer Camp Counselor

Gabrielle (Gabby) joins our team this summer as a camp counselor. She is a rising junior at Tennessee State University, where she studies Human Performance and Sports Science with a concentration in Exercise Science and a minor in Business. She is currently a student Athletic Trainer for the Tennessee State Football Team. She recently became a member of the Alpha Kappa Psi Professional Business Fraternity. Gabby likes to spend time with her family and friends and volunteer at various schools.She looks forward to being part of the HMC staff and working with the campers!

EMMA EISWIRTH

Summer Camp Counselor

Emma has worked as a camp counselor for six years at various camps in the area and is beyond excited to return to the Hoover Met Complex camp staff for a second summer! She is an upcoming senior at Auburn University, pursuing a degree in Biomedical Sciences with a minor in Business. She is hoping to become a physical therapist one day. In her free time, Emma enjoys spending time with her family and friends. She enjoys listening to music and spending time outside.

HADEN GALBAUGH

Summer Camp Counselor

Haden will join the Hoover Met Complex camp staff as a camp counselor this summer and is very excited to be part of the team! He is an upcoming sophomore at Auburn University and plans to be an event manager in the future.Haden enjoys sports and the outdoors and spending time with family and friends. He is looking forward to being part of the HMC staff and working with the campers!

TAHLI KING

Summer Camp Counselor

Tahli is returning to the Hoover Met Complex camp staff for a second year as a camp counselor. She is an upcoming junior at UAB, studying Biomedical Engineering. Tahli hopes to become a Prosthetist in the future. She played basketball for many years prior to attending college. In her free time, Tahli enjoys watching movies, hiking, biking, and spending time with her dog. She is looking forward to another awesome summer at sports camp!

EMMI KLAWITTER

Summer Camp Counselor

Emmi has been working at the Hoover Met Complex for more than three years and is returning as a camp counselor for a second year. She is currently a senior at Helena High School and plans to attend Troy University in the fall majoring in Occupational Therapy. In her free time, she enjoys reading, drawing, and playing board games with family and friends. She is looking forward to having another amazing summer with our campers!

KAYCEE LARK

Summer Camp Counselor

Kaycee joins the Hoover Met Complex camp staff this summer and she couldn’t be more excited! She is currently a senior attending The Thacher School in Ojai, California. Although she attends high school in California, she is originally from Atlanta, Georgia. She moved to Birmingham with her family 5 years ago and has loved the area. Kaycee plans to attend Penn State University in the fall, majoring in Musical Theatre. Singing, acting, and dancing are her passions. But in her free time, she enjoys reading, spending time with friends and family, riding horses, and playing volleyball.

MICHAEL OGLETREE

Summer Camp Counselor

Michael returns to the Hoover Met Complex camp staff for a second summer as a camp counselor and shift lead. He currently attends Auburn University, is a member of Theta Chi and majors in Building Science. Michael is a Spain Park High School alumnus, where he played football and baseball. In his free time, he enjoys playing golf, basketball and spending time at the lake. He is looking forward to another summer helping campers embrace their love for sports!

PYPER SHEPARD

Summer Camp Counselor

Pyper has worked part-time for the Hoover Met Complex for more than three years, as an event team member, box office ticket seller, and as a member of the Hoover Heights Climbing Center staff. This summer marks her second year returning as a camp counselor. Pyper is a senior at Hoover High School and plans to attend Alcorn State in Mississippi in the fall and wishes to be a physical therapist in the future. She enjoys basketball, reading, hiking, traveling, and spending time with her family and friends.

BRODY STACEY

Summer Camp Counselor

Brody has worked part-time for the Hoover Met Complex in the Hoover Heights Climbing Center and rejoins the summer camp staff for a second year, as a camp counselor. He is an upcoming senior at Hoover High School. Brody plays football and enjoys a variety of other sports. He is looking forward to sharing his athletic abilities once again with our campers this summer!

HAYDEN YANCEY

Summer Camp Counselor

Hayden is returning for a second summer at the Hoover Met Complex as a camp counselor. He will be an upcoming sophomore at Mississippi State University, majoring in Biological Sciences with a Pre-Med concentration. In his free time, Hayden enjoys playing golf and attending sporting events with friends and family. Growing up in the Birmingham area, Hayden played football, baseball, and golf and brings a great deal of sports knowledge to the staff and campers. He looks forward to working with the campers this summer and helping them work toward their goals
